C+A Design Transforms Oakleaf Close Unit into New Padel Cross Venue

C+A Design is delighted to see Padel Cross officially open at Oakleaf Close, Clay Cross, with the new facility already proving to be a huge success during its soft launch.
Originally delivered by C+A Design as part of the speculative commercial development at Oakleaf Close, the building provided the ideal blank canvas for an exciting new leisure destination. Following Padel Cross securing the unit, C+A Design was appointed to design the internal layout and fit-out, transforming the space into a premium venue dedicated to one of the UK's fastest-growing sports.
The completed facility has been carefully designed to maximise both the playing experience and the customer journey, creating a destination that combines sport, wellbeing and social interaction. The scheme includes:
- Five indoor padel courts, including a dedicated competition court with spectator viewing area
- A welcoming café and bar, providing a social hub for players and visitors
- Modern changing facilities
- A dedicated reformer Pilates studio, broadening the venue's health and wellbeing offering
The layout was developed to create more than just a sports facility. By carefully considering circulation, viewing areas and communal spaces, the design encourages visitors to stay, socialise and enjoy the wider experience before and after their games.
The popularity of the venue has been evident from the outset. Despite only recently opening under a soft launch, Padel Cross has already experienced fully booked sessions at peak times, highlighting the increasing demand for high-quality padel facilities across the UK.
Projects such as Padel Cross demonstrate how speculative commercial developments can successfully evolve to meet changing market demands. By adapting a flexible shell building for a specialist leisure operator, the development has created a vibrant new destination that will serve both the local community and the growing padel market.
